Our industrial legacy, together with systemic racism, has disproportionately affected lives and livelihoods in Cleveland’s Black and Brown neighborhoods. Remediating polluted land, air and water are fundamental to the transition to circularity, and are accounted for in the other three focus areas. Key actions in this area include:
Use nature-based solutions to remediate and regenerate the most polluted areas.
Track pollutants and develop target actions based on this data.
Turn public vacant lands into green community assets.
Update water systems to remove the risk of lead contamination.
Reduce air pollution by promoting active and green transportation options.
